C.S. World Cargo 2000, established in 1987, is a prominent and growing Freight Forwarding company with offices in Canada, the USA, the UK and Hong Kong. We are now expanding to Guyana and need a logistics agent at this location.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the chosen person will be responsible for and experienced in handling all operational aspects of the company. This includes Air Freight (exports and imports), Sea Freight (exports and imports), local trucking deliveries; Customs Clearance (billing and payments) as well as administrative tasks. This person, in summary, will be responsible for all aspects of moving shipments from origin to destination.
- Minimum, High School completion with five (5) subjects (must have English and Math)
- Minimum 5 years’ working experience.
- Three (3) years operational knowledge in Freight Forwarding sector (Required).
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Teamwork, tact and good interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Numeracy and computer literacy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license (an asset).
WORK HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT
Normal working hours for this position are typically Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, however, working beyond these hours may be required. This position is referred to as a full-time exempt position. This role is based in an office environment with extensive driving for customer visits. For full-time exempt employees, the work schedule is typically 40 hours per work week.

o make bookings
o prepare consolidations
o negotiate rates with carriers for all mode of transportation
o contact Carriers/warehouse upon shipments’ arrival
o ensure shipments are retrieved immediately on arrival to ensure no demurrage
o pay all charges at destination
o arrange customs clearance
o arrange delivery
o invoice destination charges
o handle de-consolidation (multiple customers on one shipment)
· Customs Clearance:
o ensure documents are passed to consignee or their broker for customs clearance
o arrange customs clearance as needed
· Trucking :
o arrange pick up and deliveries, of any shipment, in any part of the country
o communicate with customers, carriers, truckers, customs etc. to ensure clarity, mutual understanding and efficient movement of shipments
o maintain constant, proactive communication with customers to promote the highest level of customer satisfaction
· Adminstrative Tasks:
o learn new software as needed to perform invoicing and payables
o upload and download documents
o tracking and tracing shipments online
o Ensure that the business has the adequate and suitable resources to complete its activities (e.g. people, material, equipment etc.)
o Achieve gross profit targets and other business driven targets
o Identify / create sales opportunities through contact with potential customers.
o other admin tasks as needed
o arrange payment of freight and other charges or collection of payment on behalf of the client.
o perform other duties as assigned by management.
