Freight Forwarding Cargo Agent

C.S. World Cargo 2000, established in 1987, is a prominent and growing Freight Forwarding company with offices in Canada, the USA, the UK and Hong Kong. We are now expanding to Guyana and are in need of a freight forwarding cargo agent at this location.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Logistics Business Manager, the chosen person will be responsible for and experienced in handling all operational aspects of the company. This includes Air Freight (exports and imports), Sea Freight (exports and imports), local trucking deliveries; Customs Clearance (billing and payments) as well as administrative tasks. This person, in summary, will be responsible for all aspects of moving shipments from origin to destination.


Qualifications/Skills Requirements

  • Minimum, High School completion with five (5) subjects (must have English and Math)
  • Minimum 5 years’ working experience.
  • Three (3) years operational knowledge in Freight Forwarding sector (Required).
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Teamwork, tact and good interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Numeracy and computer literacy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license (an asset).




  • prepare all export documentation
  • make bookings
  • prepare consolidations
  • negotiate rates with carriers for all mode of transportation


  • contact Carriers/warehouse upon shipments’ arrival
  • ensure shipments are retrieved immediately on arrival to ensure no demurrage
  • pay all charges at destination
  • arrange customs clearance
  • arrange delivery
  •  invoice destination charges
  • handle de-consolidation (multiple customers on one shipments)

‚ÄčCustoms Clearance:

  • ensure documents are passed to consignee or their broker for customs clearance
  • arrange customs clearance as needed

Trucking :

  • arrange pick up and deliveries, of any shipment, in any part of the country


  • communicate with customers, carriers, truckers, customs etc. to ensure clarity, mutual understanding and efficient movement of shipments 
  • maintain constant, proactive communication with customers to promote the highest level of customer satisfaction 

Adminstrative Skills:

  •  learn new software as needed to perform invoicing and payables
  • upload and download documents
  • tracking and tracing shipments online
  • other admin tasks as needed
  • arrange payment of freight and other charges or collection of payment on behalf of the client.
  • perform other duties as assigned by management.
