Requirements

  • Must be CAT qualified or possess ACCA Level 2 qualification or possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum pass of a Credit.
  • Must have at least 3 years accounting experience with responsibility for the preparation of financial statements.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Peachtree.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review payment vouchers for all payments made on behalf of clients.
  • Review daily postings into peachtree.
  • Review of all work originating from accounts and payroll sections.
  • Fortnightly follow up of outstanding invoices.
  • Review of payment vouchers prior to submission for approval.
  • Ensure that internal controls operate effectively.
  • Supervision of safe cash and petty cash.
  • Ensure timely submission of Firm bank reconciliations.
  • Submission of final monthly Firm financial statement to Partners.
  • Review of accounts for all clients for whom we prepare monthly and periodic financial statements.
  • Ensure that client deadlines are met.
  • Obtain understanding of payroll section procedures.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and annual departmental job plans.
  • Review duties of department staff and recommend restructuring and training.
