Description

JOB FUNCTION

Supporting the Managing Director, Senior Management, and workers in achieving all HSE objectives and in the implementation and improvement of H&S policies and procedures.

  • Evaluating the need for and developing site-specific policies and procedures.
  • Facilitating and/or participating in project or shutdown/outage/safety planning meeting
  • Developing and reviewing the safety plan(s).
  • Performing observations of each assigned crew and supporting Operations in the closing of observations and corrective actions in accordance with our Safety requirements.
  • Providing technical and regulatory support as needed, including participation in regulatory visits and inspections.
  • Managing the site's Substance Abuse and Fit-for-Duty programme.
  • Collecting, maintaining, and reporting information on the site H&S performance and programme activities.
  • Ensuring or coordinating immediate response/reporting of all near misses, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Report all serious injuries immediately to Workers' Compensation and ensure the use of case management and reporting procedure and forms.
  • Investigate incidents in accordance with policies, procedures, and Labour Laws.
  • Documenting and tracking corrective actions and findings, supporting their closure.
  • Leading/Coaching in the recognition/reward of employees' safety performance, the behavioural safety observation program, safety awards, and celebrations.
  • Ensuring that all employees complete all training required safety training and ensure proper documentation.
  • Coordinating with HR Manager to train, and coach staff in HSSE procedures.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma/Certificate in Health & Safety or Environmental Science or related discipline is preferred.
  • Work in an Oil & Gas environment will be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of local, and international regulations in Health & Safety.
  • Experience in preparation of HSE-related deliverables such as HSE Plan, HSE Reporting, etc.

Responsibilities

ABILITY/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards for Oil & Gas and general industry standards, and best practices (required).
  • Ability to observe field conditions, operations, and tasks and recognize hazards, while applying the appropriate best practices to recommend HSE improvements or implement requirements.
  • Ability to use and interpret the readings of a variety of safety and health instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization and present to groups (required).
  • Skilled in techniques of supervision and coaching.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure in a fast-paced environment (required).
  • Ability to work in a self-directed fashion (required).
  • Ability to work well as a team member in a diverse environment (required).
  • Ability to use common office equipment (required).
  • Knowledge of the Windows operating system and file and folder structure (required).
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software (required).
  • Ability to read and understand various types of tables and graphical information (required).

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/printers, and filing cabinets.
  • Must have flexibility in working hours to achieve assigned responsibilities.
  • Must be able to stand; walk; sit. May be required to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs.
