Description

The Business Development & Client Relations Specialist is responsible for business development, identifying new market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring long-term client satisfaction. This role combines sales leadership, relationship management, and strategic planning to achieve revenue goals and strengthen the company’s market presence. The Business Development & Client Relations Specialist will also provide client relations support to the company’s existing clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Insurance, or related field.

  • Professional insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU, CIC, ARM, CLU, CISR, FLMI) would be an asset.

  • 6-10 years’ experience in sales and marketing, ideally in General Insurance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.

Responsibilities

Business Development
Support the General Manager:

  • Execute strategic marketing and business development plans.

  • Drive premium income and brokerage commission targets.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with company objectives.

  • Conduct market research on industry trends, competitors, and opportunities.

  • Prepare and deliver business proposals, presentations, and negotiations.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Collaborate across departments to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions.

  • Address client concerns promptly to maintain satisfaction.

  • Conduct client visits and regular business reviews.

  • Track, measure, and report business development activities.

  • Represent the company at networking events, trade shows, and conferences.

  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, proposals, and agreements.

  • Manage client portfolios to ensure retention and incremental growth.

  • Assist with tender preparation for new business acquisition.

  • Ensure courteous, proactive, and accurate customer interactions.

  • Oversee timely preparation and distribution of client documents.

  • Support management of accounts receivables in compliance with payment schedules and regulations.

Risk Placement:

  • Collaborate with clients to design insurance and risk management programs within budget.

  • Analyze plan performance, negotiate renewals, and recommend improvements.

  • Ensure all material information is obtained and conveyed to insurers.

  • Maintain ethical standards and positive relationships with insurers.

  • Secure fair and equitable rates from insurers.

  • Ensure all documentation meets company quality standards.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Uphold professional conduct and protect company reputation.

  • Foster respectful relationships with employees for a healthy work environment.

  • Verify accuracy and authorization of transactions.

  • Stay updated on insurance knowledge, industry laws, and developments.
