The Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to established laboratory protocols and quality standards.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
Registration with the relevant professional body in Guyana (if applicable)
Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory setting (preferred)
Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication and organizational skills
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as:
Hematology
Microbiology
Clinical Chemistry
Serology
Urinalysis
Collect, label, and process patient specimens (blood, urine, etc.)
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment
Analyze test results and report findings accurately and promptly
Ensure all work complies with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations
Maintain proper documentation and laboratory records
Monitor inventory levels and request supplies when necessary
Adhere to infection control and biohazard safety guidelines
Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs
Assist in training junior staff or interns when required
