The Accountant/Financial Analyst is responsible for managing the financial operations of the Authority while providing analytical insights on the gaming sector. The role includes preparing financial statements, monitoring revenue and expenditure, ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations, and supporting audits. The incumbent will also analyze industry financial data, assess trends, and provide reports and recommendations to support policy development, regulatory decision-making, and effective oversight of the gaming sector.
Certified Accounting Technician Certificate or Level 2 ACCA qualification with at least 5 years' experience or;
Certified Accountant Technician Certificate or Level 3 ACCA qualification or;
Bachelor's degree in accounting with at least 3 years' experience
Proficiency in an accounting software (preferably Quickbooks)
Must be computer literate ad proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience working within the public sector accounting systems would be an asset

2. Document financial transactions by entering accountant information
3. Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
4. Summarizes current financial status by collecting information
5. Prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
6. Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
7. Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
The Gaming Authority of Guyana was launched on December 1, 2008, in accordance with section 32(1) of the Gambling Prevention (Amendment) Act Cap 9:02. The main functions of the Authority are set out in Section 32 of Cap 9:02. These functions include, overseeing, supervising, regulating and guiding the gaming sector in Guyana. Moreover, the Gaming Authority is the appointed Supervisory Authority for casino, betting shops and lotteries under the Anti-money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Act Cap 10:11.
