Description

New Hayven Merchant Bank Inc. is seeking to engage a qualified and experienced Internal Auditor (Part-Time Consultant) to establish and lead the Bank’s Internal Audit Function.

This role provides independent assurance to the Board and Audit Committee on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control systems. The position is being structured as a consultancy arrangement in line with the Bank’s current operational scale.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIA or equivalent)

  • Experience in banking, financial services, or internal auditing

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Risk management

    • Internal controls

    • Regulatory compliance

  • Ability to work independently and maintain objectivity

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the Internal Audit Function of the Bank

  • Develop and implement an Internal Audit Charter and audit methodology

  • Prepare and execute a risk-based annual audit plan

  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls across all business areas

  • Conduct operational, financial, compliance, and IT audits

  • Monitor compliance with:

    • Bank of Guyana regulations

    • Financial Institutions Act

    • AML/CFT requirements

    • Internal policies and procedures

  • Prepare audit reports with findings and recommendations

  • Present reports to Management, Audit Committee, and Board

  • Follow up on corrective actions and track implementation
