As a night shift security officer, your job is to ensure the safety of the business by helping monitor it overnight. In this role, you may watch video from security cameras, respond to alerts, patrol the area, or perform other tasks as necessary based on the security systems in place.
Reports to: Site Manager/Management
Strong observation and reporting skills
Effective communication skills
Basic knowledge of security equipment (CCTV, alarms, access control)
Ability to remain alert and vigilant during night shifts
Problem-solving and emergency response capability
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security, law enforcement, or related field will be a plus.
Good health and fitness record
Physically fit for patrolling and standing for long periods
Familiarity with working during night hours and maintaining alertness during quiet periods
Able to follow instructions and adhere to company policies
· Monitoring intruder alarm systems, for any signs of intrusion by unauthorized persons.
· Patrolling the grounds at night to check for signs of any suspicious activity such as broken windows or doors, graffiti, littering.
· Responding to emergency situations such as fires, active threats, or any unruly behaviour. Contacting law enforcement when necessary.
· Observing employees to ensure they are following security protocols such as locking doors at closing time, and report any suspicious activities to immediate Supervisor.
· Performing routine security checks on key areas such as entrances and exits, as well as frequent patrols at the back of the facility.
· After reporting to law enforcement, report incidents of theft, vandalism, or suspicious activity to immediate Supervisor/Director
