The Gardener is responsible for maintaining landscaped areas, lawns, gardens, and external grounds within the facility to ensure the site remains safe, clean, and visually presentable, according to the requirements of the client. The role supports the overall environmental quality and appearance of the facility through routine grounds maintenance, horticultural care, landscape upkeep, and outdoor cleaning activities. In addition to landscaping duties, the position supports the Facilities Management team by maintaining external areas in compliance with site safety standards, environmental guidelines, and operational requirements applicable to a commercial office space.
Knowledge and Skills
· Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance.
· Secondary school education or equivalent is preferred.
· Knowledge of plant care, pruning, turf maintenance, and soil preparation.
· Ability to identify plant health issues and environmental conditions affecting landscaped areas.
· Ability to operate lawn and garden equipment safely and efficiently.
· Strong attention to detail in maintaining grounds appearance and cleanliness.
· Ability to follow instructions, maintenance schedules, and safety procedures.
· Good communication skills for reporting issues to supervisors and coordinating with facilities staff.
Physical Requirements
· Good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
· Ability to lift 25–50 lbs as needed.
· Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
· The role is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to sun, rain, dust, insects, and varying weather conditions.

Landscape & Grounds Upkeep
Maintain lawns, turf, landscaped areas, flower beds, shrubs, hedges, and trees to required standards.
Perform mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, aeration, weeding, fertilizing, mulching, watering, soil conditioning, and over‑seeding.
Conduct tree pruning, shaping, and removal of hazardous limbs or dead branches.
Maintain natural / wild vegetation areas as directed.
Plant, transplant, and maintain flowers, shrubs, and seasonal vegetation in alignment with landscaping plans.
Irrigation & Water Management
Report leaks, blockages, pressure issues, or drainage problems.
Support storm‑preparedness and post‑storm cleanup when required.
Site Cleaning & External Maintenance
Keep walkways, entrances, parking areas, swales, terraces, and landscaped borders free of debris, leaves, branches, and litter.
Clean and maintain external furniture, decorative elements, and fixtures.
Support general outdoor facilities maintenance as directed.
Chemical & Equipment Use
Safely apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other treatments in accordance with SDS, environmental requirements, and approved procedures.
Operate and maintain landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, pruning tools, and sprayers.
Prevent contamination of soil, drains, and natural areas, and report spills immediately.
Plant Health Monitoring & Reporting
Conduct regular inspections to identify pests, diseases, irrigation faults, soil issues, or plant health problems.
Report issues to the Facilities Supervisor with recommended corrective actions.
Support integrated pest‑control programs.
Safety, Environmental & Compliance Responsibilities
Follow all Safety, Security, Health & Environment (SSHE) policies and PPE requirements.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and required training.
Use barricades and safety signage when operating equipment in pedestrian or high‑traffic areas.
Adhere to restricted mowing and noise‑sensitive hours.
Keep emergency access routes, drainage paths, and safety equipment unobstructed at all times.
Follow approved procedures when using landscaping equipment, fertilizers, pesticides, or other materials.
Ensure safe operation of tools and equipment and use appropriate personal protective equipment when required
Report hazards, unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, or damaged site infrastructure to the Facilities Supervisor.
