A Customs Brokerage Clerk in Guyana processes import/export documentation and ensures goods comply with the Guyana Revenue Authority's regulations and tariffs.
· A minimum of one (1) year’s experience as a Customs Broker.
· Two (2) years’ experience in Freight and Brokerage system (ASYCUDA) will be an asset.
· Proficiency using MS Office Suite will also be beneficial.
· At least five (5) CSEC passes inclusive of Mathematics and English.
Data Entry & System Use: Perform data entry and pre-storage into the ASYCUDA system, which is used for customs declarations in Guyana.
Tariff Classification: Identify and apply the correct Harmonized System (HS) for imported and exported goods to determine duties and taxes.
Document Preparation: Prepare and submit all required customs documents, including licenses, re-export letters, and other licensing requirements for approval by the GRA.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all customs procedures and regulations are followed, which includes obtaining necessary permits and adhering to guidelines for specific items like pesticides.
Client & Authority Liaison: Act as a liaison between clients and customs officials, preparing documents for clients' signatures and submitting them for tax approvals to the GRA.
Monitoring & Tracking: Monitor the progress of shipments and ensure timely clearance by coordinating with clients, carriers, and customs authorities.
Assisting with Duty Payments: Assist in calculating and arranging for the payment of duties and taxes on imported or exported goods.
