Lead Process Engineer

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Processing Engineering.

Minimum eight years of hands-on refinery experience in process or operations roles.

Proficiency in refinery process simulation tools and advanced analytical software.

Strong understanding of refinery information systems such as PHD, RIS, laboratory information systems, and SAP modules.

Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14000, and ISO 17025 standards, with experience supporting integrated management systems.

Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of international refinery process standards, refinery economics, and process safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Monitor and optimize the performance of reformer units, evaluating catalyst efficiency, energy consumption, chemical usage, and product yields to ensure safe and cost-effective operations.

Review and analyze performance summaries prepared by senior process engineers, identifying irregularities and recommending corrective actions to production teams.

Conduct continuous performance monitoring of major equipment, including heat exchangers, reactors, heaters, and distillation columns, ensuring early detection of inefficiencies.

Evaluate and revise operating procedures, standing instructions, and test run plans to maintain compliance with engineering best practices and safety standards.

Lead studies on plant bottlenecks, proposing modifications to enhance capacity, improve yields, and reduce energy consumption.

Review process design modification proposals and conduct economic evaluations to determine feasibility and return on investment.

Analyze new and emerging technologies to determine suitability for plant upgrades or replacement of existing systems.

Utilize simulation models and computer-based tools to troubleshoot process issues and support decision-making.

Lead senior engineers in reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, and other process licensor documents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational readiness.

Support project planning, commissioning, startup activities, and site handovers for new installations, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems.

Participate in HAZOP, HAZAN, and safety audits to ensure safe engineering practices and identify operational risks.

Develop and implement on-the-job training programs for national engineers, focusing on long-term skill development and technical competency.
