The Cashier is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while accurately processing sales transactions, handling payments, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. This role serves as the first and last point of contact for customers, contributing to a positive shopping experience and the smooth operation of daily business activities.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred but not required (training provided).
Strong numerical and attention-to-detail skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
Basic computer and point-of-sale (POS) system knowledge.
Honesty, reliability, and a professional attitude.
Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, efficient service at the checkout.
Accurately process cash, credit, debit, and other forms of payments.
Scan items, verify prices, and ensure correct billing for all transactions.
Issue receipts, refunds, or exchanges in accordance with company policies.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the cash register and surrounding counter space.
Balance cash drawers and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
Assist customers with inquiries, returns, and product information.
Report any discrepancies, suspicious activity, or equipment issues to management.
Follow company procedures for loss prevention, safety, and confidentiality.
Support other team members and departments as needed.
