Description

The Mine Planning Engineer will display a strong drive for continuous improvement in a developing mining operation and

show a desire to take ownership for their work. The role of a Mine Planning Engineer carries a significant requirement

for professionalism, responsibility and accountability which should be displayed in the workplace and as a representative

of the company.

Requirements

  • A recognized Mining Engineering degree or equivalent:

    • Geological Engineering

    • Geotechnical Engineering

    • Civil Engineering

  • Professional Engineer designation, P.Eng. or equivalent is an asset.

  • 4 years' experience working in an open pit mining environment.

  • Minimum 3 years operational mining experience is required.

  • Driving licence and ability to drive manual gearbox vehicles is required.

  • Expertise with open pit mine design, planning, and evaluation.

  • Proficiency in mine design, planning, and scheduling software, experience using Surpac, MineSched and Whittle software will be an asset.

  • Experience with geotechnical considerations in open pit is considered an asset.

  • Exposure to geological and geostatistical modelling concepts is considered an asset.

  • Experience in performing mining studies is considered an asset.

  • Experience working in the bauxite industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish systems, procedures, and workflows to develop mine plans and schedules to guide mine development and control.

  • Ensures operations staff are engaged in mine planning, optimisation and productivity processes and improvements and are provided with Life of Mine plans including ultimate stage development plans, to allow efficient and effective execution of the plan(s).

  • Manage the overall collection, analysis and reporting of mine information to assess performance statistics, statutory requirements, systems efficiencies, and business improvement initiatives. Recommend systems improvements.

  • Assist with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects.

  • Monitor, measure and develop continuous improvement strategies for an efficient Mine Operations.

  • Provide training and coaching to all team members, with specific attention to local employees as part of Company’s Policy.

  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by your Manager.

  • Ensure effective communication with your direct reports prior to departure from site.
