Inventory Officer (Junior)

fulltime

Job Location

Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara

Description

J.S.B. Investments Inc. is hiring a junior Inventory Officer to run the day-to-day stores function at Soesdyke. You will receive, issue and count parts, materials and consumables; keep every movement traceable; keep our fleet and fuel records accurate; and support procurement so nothing is ordered without the stock position being known. The role sits between the workshop, procurement and accounts, and is judged on one thing above all: whether the records match the physical stock. You report to the Inventory Officer, with a dotted line to the Finance Officer. Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM plus Saturdays on a rota. This is a genuine entry point into our stores and fleet function, with structured training on Fleetio and a banded pay path. Closing date: 10 November 2026.

Requirements

Must have: CSEC passes including Mathematics and English A.

Must have: 1-2 years in a stores, warehouse, inventory, procurement or dispatch role. Strong clerical candidates will be considered where the numeracy and record-keeping are evident.

Must have: Comfortable with spreadsheets and able to work in a web-based system every day. Fleetio is trained on the job.

Must have: Accurate with numbers and disciplined about paperwork.

Must have: Able to work in a yard and workshop environment, handling and counting parts.

Must have: Honest and dependable, with a police clearance. The holder controls company stock and fuel.

Nice to have: Exposure to Fleetio, Zoho Books or any inventory or fleet system.

Nice to have: Experience in heavy equipment, construction, mining or transport stores.

Nice to have: Fuel handling or tank dip-reading experience.

Nice to have: Valid driver's licence.

Nice to have: Living on the East Bank Demerara corridor between Soesdyke and Timehri.

Responsibilities

STORES AND STOCK CONTROL: Receive goods against the purchase order and delivery note, checking quantity, specification and condition before signing, and flagging short or damaged deliveries the same day.

Issue parts, materials and consumables against an authorised request only, recording who took what, for which asset or job, and when.

Carry out rolling cycle counts and a full count at month end, investigating and documenting every variance rather than adjusting it away.

Maintain minimum and reorder levels on critical items and raise replenishment before stock-out, not after.

Keep the stores laid out, labelled and clean, with fast-moving and safety items accessible.

FLEETIO AND EQUIPMENT RECORDS: Enter parts issued against the correct Fleetio work order and asset, so machine spend is read from work orders rather than guessed.

Capture equipment meter readings and inspection submissions in Fleetio for units passing through the yard. These entries are manual and the service reminders depend on them.

Keep Fleetio asset and part records clean: correct part numbers, correct asset names, no duplicates.

Flag units approaching a preventive maintenance interval to the Head Mechanic.

FUEL MANAGEMENT: Record every fuel issue by asset, operator, date, meter reading and quantity, with no undocumented draws.

Take and log daily tank dip readings, reconcile dips against issues and deliveries, and report any unexplained difference the same day.

Receive fuel deliveries against the supplier docket, verify quantity and file the docket with the receipt record.

Prepare a weekly fuel usage summary by asset and flag consumption that is out of line with the machine's normal rate.

PROCUREMENT SUPPORT: Raise purchase requests with correct part numbers, specifications and quantities, supported by the current stock position.

Follow up outstanding purchase orders and chase late or incomplete deliveries.

Match delivery notes, invoices and goods received notes and pass the completed pack to Accounts.

Keep supplier contact and lead-time information current for critical items.

REPORTING: Submit a weekly stores report covering receipts, issues, critical stock position, open purchase orders and fuel usage, plus the month-end count with variances explained.

Escalate stock-outs, suspected losses and safety issues immediately.
