Job Description

ESSCO Guyana Inc. is seeking suitable applicants for the position of HVAC Senior Technician. ESSCO Guyana has recently completed and has ongoing Elevator installations in Guyana at notable new construction locations such as Bluebridge Hotel and Casino, World Trade Center and Republic Bank. As an extension of ESSCOs regional business we are entering into the local HVAC market and seeking strong candidates to join the company at an early stage in its HVAC business. The HVAC Senior Technician leads the executing team in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of air conditioning installations.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

·        Experience: 5+ years of hands-on, progressive experience in commercial and residential HVAC/R service, maintenance, and installation.

·        Education & Certifications: Formal trade certification, diploma, or vocational qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration.

·        Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, clear communication, professional customer etiquette, and team leadership capability.

·        Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Position Requirements

·        Advanced Diagnostics & Repair

o   Perform expert-level troubleshooting, electrical diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on complex AC systems, including inverter splits, multi-splits, packaged rooftop units, Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF/VRV) systems, and chilled water loops.

o   Execute advanced refrigeration work: leak detection, evacuation, brazing, and system retrofits.

·        Installations & Quality Control

o   Lead major equipment changeouts, retrofits, and new system installations, ensuring all piping, wiring, ductwork, and control integrations meet peak operational standards.

o   Audit job sites to ensure proper quality work, vacuum pull-downs, pressure testing, and factory-specified startup protocols are followed.

·        Commissioning & Maintenance

o   Perform system startup, testing, adjusting, and parameter balancing (airflow, superheat, subcooling, water flow) for new and overhauled equipment.

o   Carry out comprehensive preventative maintenance on high-value commercial and residential systems, identifying failing components before they cause critical downtime.

·        Leadership & Client Advisory

o   Guide, train, and supervise junior technicians and helper crews on site to maintain high productivity, safety, and workmanship standards.

o   Serve as a trusted point of contact for client site managers and property owners, explaining technical root causes and recommending practical equipment upgrades or replacement solutions.

·        Cross-Departmental Technical Support

o   Serve as the senior technical resource for sales reps and field technicians, providing guidance on difficult diagnostic issues or retrofits.

o   Support other staff members in other departments regarding elevator, electrical, appliances, etc.
