The Exploration Geologist is responsible for the pit ore control duties of the Mining Department including identifying rocks, making critical decisions about the ore and providing geology related services to other mine personnel. In addition, the Geologist provides data entry services to the department and processing and handling of all samples that are generated from the Mining department.
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field
Willingness and ability to work in a remote exploration camp
Comfortable working a 3/1 rotation
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Physically fit for field conditions
Basic computer skills (Excel, Word; geological software a plus)
Experience:
Prior experience with core logging or mineral exploration
Familiarity with gold exploration or hard-rock geology
Experience working in interior Guyana or similar environments
Valid driver’s license (Guyana)
Assist with core logging, including lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization
Perform core photography, marking, and sampling
Follow the orientated core, record structural measurements, trace sample line
Maintain accurate geological logs, sample records, and databases
Supervise and work with the geotechnical team
Assist with QA/QC procedures for sampling and data collection
Support drill site activities, including coordination with drill crews as required
Assist with field mapping, trenching, and sampling programs
Ensure proper sample handling, labeling, and chain-of-custody
Comply with health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
Support senior geological staff with reporting and data compilation
