Assistant Dispatcher-24/7 Cargo Haulage Company

Role Summary: As an Assistant Dispatcher you will coordinate and manage truck movements, assign loads, monitor drivers and trips in real time, and communicate with customers and operations to meet delivery windows while maximizing fleet efficiency and safety.

• 2+ years’ experience in transportation dispatch, preferably in long-haul or cargo haulage.

• Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills under pressure.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work rotating shifts and remain available during peak disruption periods.

• Calm decision-making, customer-focused attitude, and teamwork orientation.

• Capacity to handle high call volumes and rapidly shifting priorities.

• Basic mechanical awareness to assist drivers with troubleshooting.

• Ability to follow instructions.

• Take incoming job requests.

• Schedule and coordinate all service calls as they are received . 

• Assign drivers and trucks to loads based on qualifications, hours-of-service and route optimization.

• Monitor trip status, update ETA’s, and proactively resolve delays.

• Communicate clearly with drivers, customers, and other agents such as Customs Officers and Brokers via phone, radio, SMS, etc.

• Debrief drivers after completion of jobs .

•  Create and maintain accurate load manifests, trip logs, and electronic records.

• Maintain the dispatch schedule. Prioritize and re-route in real time to maintain on-time performance in a fast-moving environment.

• Escalate and coordinate incident response for breakdowns, accidents, or weather impacts.

• Contact customers to update on the shipment.

• Follow up on all pending work with customers.

•  Manage driver duty-time compliance and support.

• Report all service orders and other paperwork.

• Complete all necessary maintenance report.

• Support billing and operations by verifying deliveries and providing required documentation.

• Any other tasks necessary to effectively complete function in your position.
