The Lead Cook is responsible for planning a menu, sourcing and purchasing ingredients for that menu, pricing menu items based on the cost of ingredients, and then preparing and cooking food items, ensuring high-quality dishes are served to customers, with the highest level of food safety.
This includes maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, managing inventory, and assisting with other kitchen tasks as needed.
Experience: Previous experience as a cook or in a similar role is preferred.
Culinary Skills: Knowledge of various cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in food quality.
Time Management: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot kitchen environment.
Food Preparation:
Plan a menu based on culinary concepts and feedback from residents
Source and prepare ingredients according to recipes, including washing, chopping, measuring, and portioning.
Cook food items using various techniques, such as grilling, sautéing, frying, and baking.
Plate dishes in an appealing and appetizing manner.
Maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.
Maintain industry food safety standards.
Kitchen Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including all kitchen equipment and surfaces.
Follow proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety.
Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and rotating stock.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Teamwork and Communication:
Collaborate with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Assist with other kitchen tasks as needed, such as dishwashing or prep work.
