The Finance Manager will oversee all financial activities of Apan Energy’s Guyana operations. This includes financial reporting, budget management, risk assessment, compliance, tax planning, and strategic support during project expansion. The position plays a critical role in ensuring financial discipline and supporting executive decision-making.
Education & Certification:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
· CPA or equivalent professional certification (ACCA, CMA) is an advantage.
Experience:
• Minimum 5–8 years of finance/accounting experience, including 2+ years in a managerial role.
• Experience in energy, infrastructure, or project-based businesses preferred.
Technical & Functional Skills:
• Strong understanding of IFRS and local tax regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and audit coordination.

· Ensure adherence to Apan Energy’s policies and compliance framework: Anti-Corruption, Supplier Code of Conduct, HSE, and community obligations.
· Act as a project sponsor/leader for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
· Ensure strong governance and ethical compliance throughout the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process, including vendor onboarding, purchase approvals, payment authorizations, and reconciliation.
· Implement and monitor anti-corruption and anti-bribery practices in accordance with international standards and Apan Energy’s Code of Conduct.
· Support the integration of anti-corruption and anti-bribery compliance tools and training for local staff to promote transparency and accountability in all financial and procurement activities.
· Act as a local ethics and compliance liaison for anti-corruption and anti-bribery related due diligences and third-party screening in finance and procurement transactions.
· Ensure that procurement documentation, contract approvals, and vendor payments follow established internal controls and authorization matrix to mitigate risks of fraud or financial misconduct.
· Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) in both local GAAP and IFRS.
· Ensure timely variance analysis and reporting for operational and project phases.
· Submit monthly management reports to Corporate HQ and local stakeholders.
· Oversee internal/external audits, statutory filings, and ensure timely tax declarations.
· Coordinate with Regional Tax Manager and manage relationships with local tax authorities.
· Prepare lender reports and ensure compliance with financing agreements, PPA, concession terms, and loan covenants.
· Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
· Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and bank reconciliation.
· Support long-term strategic planning and investment analysis.
· Supervise banking operations, payment processing, and treasury controls.
· Identify financial risk exposure (e.g., FX, business interruption) and recommend mitigation measures.
· Maintain close relationships with local and international banking partners.
· Support the implementation and ongoing operations of SAP, BPC, or related platforms.
· Recruit, train, and develop local finance/accounting staff.
· Conduct performance reviews, mentor team members, and build departmental capacity.
· Prepare and submit weekly cash flow forecasts and bank reconciliations to the Executive Vice President.
· Coordinate with the Plant Manager to review and track actuals versus budgeted figures for OPEX and project costs monthly.
· Prepare and present detailed monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) for internal management and corporate review.
· Submit quarterly performance updates and variance analyses to Corporate HQ and relevant stakeholders.
· Coordinate annual budget planning and forecasting process with key site functions including Plant Operations, HR, and Procurement.
· Ensure proper execution of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes in accordance with IFRS and Apan Energy internal policies.
· Lead and manage internal audits initiated by Apan Energy HQ to assess compliance with corporate financial standards and procedures.
· Coordinate with external auditors for the statutory audit of annual financial statements and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.
· Support any ad hoc or project-specific audits requested by lenders, government agencies, or board-appointed committees.
· Ensure timely and accurate submission of all statutory filings (e.g., tax returns, compliance reports) in accordance with Guyanese laws and regulatory timelines.
· Maintain and archive proper audit trails and documentation for all financial transactions, procurement approvals, and payment executions.
