The Inventory Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of materials, equipment, and spare parts required for the operation and maintenance of the power plant. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, accurate records, and compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting uninterrupted plant operations and project execution.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
o Five CSEC subjects and or CAPE
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field would be an asset.
An inventory management certificate would be an asset.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in inventory management, preferably in an EPC company or power plant environment.
Forklift operator certification is preferred.
Familiarity with spare parts, tools, and materials used in industrial facilities is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) would be an asset.
Strong understanding of inventory control techniques and best practices.
Soft Skills:
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
Maintain accurate records of all inventory items, including raw materials, spare parts, tools, and consumables.
Monitor stock levels and ensure adequate inventory to prevent operational downtime while avoiding overstocking.
Manage inventory control systems to track usage, reorder points, and stock movements.
Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with system records.
Procurement Coordination
Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of materials and spare parts.
Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
Liaise with vendors and suppliers to resolve issues related to quality, quantity, or delivery timelines.
Warehouse Organisation
8. Ensure the proper storage of inventory items, maintaining organized, clean, and safe warehouse facilities.
Develop and enforce procedures for the proper handling, labelling, and storage of materials.
Manage the issuance of materials and spare parts to plant staff, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Data and Reporting
Maintain inventory databases and ensure data accuracy in ERP systems or inventory management software.
Prepare and submit regular inventory reports, including stock levels, consumption trends, and reorder needs.
Track and report obsolete, damaged, or excess inventory for disposal or adjustment.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in audits related to inventory and warehouse operations.
Train staff on inventory management processes and safety protocols as needed.
