Description

TOTALTEC Inc. seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Accountant to join our growing team. The Business Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the company's financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer or Group Controller

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred. 

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting and/or auditing.

  • Strong understanding of IFRS.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as applicable.

  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of audits.

    Accounting Operations:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

  • Conduct and/or review and approve reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of all transactions.

  • Approve payroll and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.

  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including tracking purchases, depreciation, and disposals.

  • Assist with inventory management and cost accounting.

    Financial Analysis:

  • Analyze financial data and provide insights into trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Prepare budget vs. actual reports and analyze variances.

  • Develop and maintain cash forecasts.

  • Develop and maintain project accounting or contract analysis models and files.

    Compliance and Internal Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and other legal requirements.

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

    Other Duties:

  • Assist with special projects as needed.

  • Stay up-to-date on accounting standards and regulations.

  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial support and guidance.
