The Boarding Clerk acts as the first point of contact for vessels arriving into and departing the various ports and must ensure compliance with all statutory formalities and required declarations within stipulated deadlines. The Boarding Clerk is expected to establish good relationships with all stakeholders, internal and external, while performing any duties as requested by the Vessel Operations Manager. These duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Answers phone calls and emails.
2. Preparing up all documents for vessels arrivals and departures
3. Boarding and clearing all vessels, making the necessary arrangements with officials
4. Repair and maintain Port log for all vessels
5. Clearing transshipment cargo at all ports
6. Completing and submitting vessels reports and contents
7. Crew management
8. Prepare and process documents such as Sign On/Off and OK to Board letters, import and export documentation for vessel etc.
9. Assist with boarding and clearing of vessels
10. Assist with completing & submitting Maritime Arrival / Departure Notices and paying Navigational Dues
11. Perform any related duties as assigned by your supervisor/Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Associate Degree in Business Management / Supply Chain Management or a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a similar position
· Minimum Five (5) CXC/O’ Levels: Math & English are compulsory.
· Computer Literacy; Knowledge of Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe software and Outlook)
· Training/certification in OSHA, STCW or BOSIET
EXPERIENCE
· Knowledge of Maritime, Customs & Immigration Regulations as it relates to handling of vessels and cargo
· Knowledge of the relevant Forms
· Able to communicate (verbally & in writing) with external agencies and clients
· Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
· Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data.
1. Ensure boarding and clearing of vessels in a timely manner
2. Effectively coordinate Crew change as per client request
3. Efficient monitoring of all cargo loading/offloading
4. Ensures compliance and submission of all local report requirements within deadlines for agency and for all Statutory Authorities, including but not limited to Customs and Excise, Immigration, Maritime services, Health Authorities, Terminal etc.
