We are seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and customer-focused individual to fill the role of Chandlery Manager. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of our chandlery, ensuring customers receive high-quality marine products, exceptional service, and expert product advice.
The Chandlery Manager will be responsible for managing inventory, supervising and developing staff, coordinating with suppliers, maintaining optimal stock levels, and ensuring a well-organized, efficient, and customer-friendly retail environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of marine products and equipment, demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering an outstanding customer experience while driving the overall success of the chandlery.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in retail management or Warehouse Management preferably in a chandlery or marine environment
Strong knowledge of marine products, boating equipment, and supplies
Exceptional leadership and team management skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Proficiency in inventory management and point-of-sale systems
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Strong negotiation skills and experience working with suppliers
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management: Maintain optimal stock levels, manage stock rotation, and ensure product availability. Regularly conduct inventory audits and manage restocking schedules.
Supplier Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable pricing, handle orders, and manage delivery schedules.
Customer Service: Deliver excellent customer service by providing expert advice on marine products, assisting with product selection, and handling any customer inquiries or concerns.
Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise chandlery staff to ensure they are knowledgeable, efficient, and deliver exceptional service. Schedule shifts and oversee daily staff performance.
Sales and Promotions: Develop and implement sales strategies, promotions, and seasonal displays to boost customer engagement and drive revenue.
Product Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with the latest marine products, technologies, and industry trends to effectively assist customers and provide recommendations.
Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure profitability targets are met. Handle daily cash management, sales reporting, and other financial tasks.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure the store operates according to health and safety regulations, keeping the workplace safe and clean for staff and customers.
Operational Efficiency: Oversee day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures, maintenance of store equipment, and upkeep of the physical environment.
