Description

APAN Energy Services Inc. is seeking experienced Power Plant Operators to join the Operations & Maintenance team at the Columbia Power Plant in Georgetown, Guyana.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of thermal power generation equipment and associated auxiliary systems during assigned shifts. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and teamwork in a fast-paced power generation environment.

Priority will be given to candidates with proven experience in HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) fired thermal power plants and medium-speed reciprocating engines.

This is a rotational position based in Georgetown, Guyana. International candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Must Have:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in thermal power plant operations.
• Proven experience operating HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) fired thermal power plants.
• Experience operating medium-speed reciprocating engines.
• Experience in power plant operations and maintenance.
• Conversational English.
• Ability to work rotational shifts.
• Willingness to relocate and work in Georgetown, Guyana.

Nice to Have:

• Diploma, Technical Certification, or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Experience with Hyundai HiMSEN, Wärtsilä, MAN, Caterpillar, Bergen, MAK, or similar engines.
• Previous experience as a Control Room Operator or Shift Operator.
• Knowledge of PTW, LOTO, and industrial safety systems.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical single-line diagrams, and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor thermal power generation equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Perform startup, shutdown, synchronization, loading, and unloading of generating units.
• Monitor plant operating parameters and report operational abnormalities.
• Conduct routine inspections and first-line maintenance activities.
• Monitor fuel, lubricating oil, cooling water, and other plant consumables.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and reports.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
• Follow Permit to Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Support troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities.
• Respond effectively to plant emergencies and abnormal operating conditions.
