The Senior Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of all company machinery, vehicles, and implements, ensuring equipment remains in safe and reliable working condition. The role also involves diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults, carrying out major engine overhauls, and supporting the development of junior personnel.
At least Parts 1 & 2 City & Guilds Certificate.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in diesel and automotive engineering.
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
Computer literate.
Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Carry out maintenance on all machinery (track and wheel) and implements, e.g. vehicles.
Service and repair all diesel and gasoline engines.
Check and adjust the fuel injection system and tappet clearance, as necessary, to improve engine performance.
Carry out major overhauls on diesel and gasoline engines.
Make recommendations for fabrication and for substitutes for unavailable spares/components.
Assist in providing on-the-job training for junior personnel.
Adhere to all safety procedures on the job.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
