Fabric Maintenance Technician / Assistant (Offshore)

Excellence Offshore Services (Guyana) Inc. is seeking an experienced Flooring Specialist to support offshore operations within the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of commercial and industrial flooring systems across offshore facilities, including living quarters, control rooms, workshops, galley areas, offices, and operational spaces. This position requires extensive knowledge of flooring materials, substrate preparation techniques, moisture mitigation systems, surface finishing processes, and applicable industry standards. The Flooring Specialist will be expected to execute work in accordance with company procedures, project specifications, OEM recommendations, and offshore safety requirements.

• Technical certification or vocational training in Flooring Installation, Construction

Trades, Carpentry, Building Finishes, or a related discipline.

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in commercial, industrial, marine, or

offshore flooring installation and maintenance.

• Demonstrated experience working with epoxy, polyurethane, vinyl, rubber, antistatic, and heavy-duty industrial flooring systems.

• Ability to safely operate flooring installation equipment, grinders, floor strippers,

heat welders, cutting tools, and surface preparation machinery.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, installation specifications, and

material data sheets.

• Working knowledge of industrial flooring standards, surface preparation

requirements, and quality assurance practices.

• Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and hazard identification.

• Previous offshore, marine, shipyard, refinery, petrochemical, or oil and gas

experience.

• Valid BOSIET/FOET certification with HUET.

• Current Offshore Medical Certificate.

• Working at Heights certification.

• Confined Space Entry certification.

• Basic First Aid/CPR certification.

• H2S Awareness Training.

• Knowledge of offshore accommodation module maintenance programs.

• Install, repair, and maintain resilient flooring systems including luxury vinyl tile (LVT), rubber flooring, carpet tiles, anti-static flooring, epoxy coatings, polyurethane flooring systems, and non-slip deck coverings.
• Conduct site assessments and inspect substrates to determine suitability for flooring installation and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
• Prepare surfaces through grinding, leveling, patching, moisture testing, and application of primers and self-leveling compounds.
• Perform floor demolition and removal activities while ensuring protection of adjacent structures and equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, floor plans, technical specifications, and manufacturer's installation procedures.
• Apply industrial-grade adhesives, sealants, welding compounds, and finishing materials using approved methods and equipment.
• Install coved skirting, stair nosings, transition strips, expansion joints, and specialized flooring accessories.

• Carry out quality control inspections and ensure completed installations meet project tolerances and performance requirements.

• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on existing flooring systems to maintain operational integrity and regulatory compliance.

• Identify flooring defects, substrate failures, moisture-related issues, and wear patterns, providing recommendations for remediation.

• Maintain detailed work records, material usage reports, and inspection documentation.

• Ensure compliance with offshore permit-to-work systems, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) requirements, and company HSE procedures.

• Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, emergency drills, and safety meetings.
