Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Customs Compliance & Accounts Assistant to join our duty-free retail team. This dual-function role requires a professional who can seamlessly manage our automated customs clearance processes through the GRA ASYCUDA World system while providing core bookkeeping and inventory tracking support to our Accounts Department.

Requirements

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification: Must hold a valid GRA Grade-II (or higher) Customs Clerk License.

  • Accounting Credentials: Completion of CAT (Certified Accounting Technician), ACCA Level 1, or a Diploma in Accounting/Finance.

  • Technical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience navigating the GRA ASYCUDA World system (specifically import and warehouse modules).

  • Software Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks (or a similar accounting platform) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data formatting).

Attributes: High level of integrity, sharp mathematical accuracy, and excellent organizational skills suited for strict legal audit trails.

Responsibilities

Customs & Compliance Duties (Primary):

  • Prepare, verify, and digitally lodge C72 (e-SAD) declarations and C39 (Warehouse Transfer) forms via the GRA ASYCUDA World portal.

  • Compile and submit the mandatory Duty-Free Shop Monthly Stock Returns to the GRA, cross-referencing sales logs with passenger flight manifests and passport data.

  • Manage the procurement, logging, and physical reconciliation of GRA Excise Stamps for local and imported spirituous liquor.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the GRA Customs Post-Audit Unit during routine site visits and compliance checks.

  • Stay updated on changes to the Guyana Customs Tariff, Excise Tax regulations, and Ministry of Finance exemption codes.

Accounts & Inventory Duties (Secondary):

  • Maintain accurate digital records of all inventory movements (in-bond, ex-bond, and retail sales) using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).

  • Perform accurate "landed cost" calculations for incoming shipments by factoring in FOB values, freight, insurance, and handling fees.

  • Reconcile daily cash register sales against physical stock levels and warehouse ledgers.

  • Assist with accounts payable by verifying supplier invoices against customs declarations and receiving logs.

  • Prepare monthly inventory reconciliation reports and assist with basic bank reconciliations.
