Description

The QA/QC Technician supports the quality assurance and quality control function on active construction sites, carrying out inspections, material testing, and documentation to ensure work is completed in line with project specifications, codes, and industry standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable on-site, methodical with paperwork, and confident raising issues early.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience in a QA/QC role on construction projects (civil, industrial, or building)

  • Working knowledge of construction materials testing methods

  • Familiarity with relevant construction codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, as applicable to the project)

  • Strong attention to detail with solid documentation and record-keeping habits

  • Comfortable reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine QA/QC inspections of ongoing construction activities against approved drawings and specifications

  • Perform or witness material testing (e.g., concrete slump and cylinder testing, compaction/density testing, aggregate testing) and record results accurately

  • Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and verify hold/witness points are met before work proceeds

  • Identify non-conformances, log Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and track corrective actions to closure

  • Maintain accurate, organized QA/QC documentation, including inspection checklists, test certificates, and daily quality logs

  • Monitor and maintain calibration records for site testing equipment

  • Support the QA/QC Manager/Engineer in implementing the project quality plan

  • Liaise with site supervisors, project engineers, subcontractors, and clients on quality-related matters

  • Participate in quality walk-throughs, toolbox talks, and site quality meetings

  • Flag recurring quality issues or trends to the project team
