The Blasting & Painting Technician will be responsible for surface preparation, abrasive blasting, spray painting and the application of protective coatings to marine and industrial equipment and structures. The position requires technical competence, attention to quality and strict adherence to established health and safety requirements.
Secondary school education or relevant technical/vocational training.
Approximately 1–2 years of relevant experience in abrasive blasting, spray painting, industrial painting or similar work.
Previous experience within the marine industry is preferred.
Relevant technical and HSE training or certification would be an advantage.
Prepare surfaces for blasting, painting and coating applications.
Perform abrasive blasting according to required specifications.
Carry out spray painting and protective coating applications.
Mix and prepare paints and coatings according to specifications and manufacturers' instructions.
Operate blasting, painting and associated equipment safely.
Inspect prepared and coated surfaces to ensure acceptable quality.
Assist with masking and protecting areas not requiring coating.
Clean, maintain and properly store tools and equipment.
Follow all HSE procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions and quality concerns.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
