Description

The Data Analyst is responsible for extracting information from management reports, billing software, SAP, LICS, Oracle and other information systems and present simplified versions/reports with information to fellow staff for discussion/review/decision(s). The work will revolve around Non-Revenue Water work within the operations department whilst liaising with other departments within the company.

§  Diploma in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.

§  Two (2) years of work experience.

Technical Skills    

§  Proficient in the use of Advance Microsoft Excel with good analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Extract from various MIS systems the following information:

o   List of metered/unmetered customers for all assigned water supply system/ district metered area (DMA) within the company.

o   Ensure that all customers/accounts are assigned to their identified DMA as provided by the designated engineer or designate.

o   Ensure on a monthly basis or earlier that all new or updated information from the billing software is presented to the respective parties (engineers/supervisors) for guidance and actions where necessary.

o   Highlight potential duplicated accounts/ incorrect information from the monthly report to the designated staff for investigation/action.

o   Analyse datasets to identify trends, patterns and any anomalies and make recommendations where necessary to update/make changes to dataset.

o   Identify any anomalies with the meter management process that requires attention with aim of improving its efficiency.

o   Creation of dashboards for ease of visibility of dataset for all parties involved with NRW work.

o   Analyse metered consumption pattern within each water supply system/DMA to identify potential high/ low/zero consumption values. This listing should be presented to the respective managers for investigation and action where necessary.

o   Present monthly production reports for each water supply system/ District metered area (DMA). Additionally, extract production information from LICS/ HWM/i2o logger system to capture bulk flow information from production sites and respective DMAs for analytical work where applicable.

o   Reconcile bulk flow meter readings with domestic meter readings to determine the level of losses within each area.

o   Conduct analysis on leakages on pipe network and service connections when required utilizing the various operational complaints platforms.

o   Present any information which is relevant to allow good data flow to strengthen the analytical aspect of NRW within the assigned areas.

o   Prepare billed metered/unmetered reports for each water supply system/DMA or where necessary.

o   Perform NRW calculation for respective DMAs, water supply system, all regional areas and at company level.

o   Perform any other duties within the scope of the position as required.

Overview

The Georgetown Sewerage and Water Commission was established on the 23rd March 1929 to provide for the completion of the Sewerage Works of Georgetown. Its objectives were to establish a body of Commissioners to control maintain and manage the Sewerage System and Waterworks of Georgetown; and to provide for the maintenance thereof. GS&WC was responsible for Central Georgetown. The Georgetown Sewerage and Water Amendment Act Number 4 of 1994 made the GS&WC an autonomous public sector institution under the control of the Minister of Works and Communications.

The Guyana Water Authority (GUYWA) was established under the Guyana Water Authority Act Chapter 55:01 of 1972. Its main activities included the construction, operation and maintenance of water distribution systems in order to supply potable water to the public. Prior to the establishment of the Authority, responsibility for the water sector was that of the Pure Water Supply Division of the Ministry of Works.

The Guyana Water Authority was responsible for delivering water to the suburban, Rural and the Hinterland regions excluding Linden and those areas supplied by the Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund Committee.

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) was established, resulting from the merger of the Guyana Water Authority (Guywa) and the Georgetown Sewerage and Water Commissioners (GS&WC), on May 30, 2002. Thus, GWI is responsible for the previously divided responsibilities of GUYWA and GS&WC.
