The Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the electrical and instrumentation systems on the mine site, ensuring their efficient operation, maintenance, and repair. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of mine site safety standards and practices. The Supervisor will lead a team of electrical and instrumentation technicians, coordinate with other departments, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field (or equivalent technical qualifications).
At least 5- 10 years experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, with at least 2 years supervisory experience preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in using electrical and instrumentation diagnostic tools and software
Understanding energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives in a mining environment.
Experience with commissioning, project management, and continuous improvement initiatives
Supervise, train, and mentor a team of electrical and instrumentation technicians, ensuring high-quality work standards, adherence to safety protocols, and continuous improvement in skills and efficiency.
Ensure all electrical and instrumentation systems are maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications, local standards, and mine site requirements.
Oversee the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment, including control systems, power distribution, motors, transformers, and other mining-related machinery.
Review and prioritize work schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks while maintaining high safety and operational standards.
Monitor equipment performance and work with the maintenance team to diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental standards, such as safety regulations, permits, and hazardous materials handling.
Maintain up-to-date records of work performed, inventory, and any technical changes or upgrades to electrical and instrumentation systems.
Coordinate with other departments (e.g., operations, safety, procurement) to ensure smooth communication and effective workflow.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections and assist in risk assessments and hazard identification on electrical and instrumentation systems.
Ensure compliance with the mine's safety program, policies, and procedures. Participate in the development and execution of training programs for the team, ensuring they stay current with new technologies, best practices, and regulatory changes.
Provide technical support during project planning, new installations, and upgrades to electrical and instrumentation systems.
Recommend improvements to existing electrical and instrumentation systems to optimize production and minimize downtime.
