Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Piping, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in piping engineering, preferably in large-scale industrial or mining projects.

  • Strong understanding of piping systems, including fluid dynamics, material selection, and installation techniques.

  • Experience in both piping design and field supervision.

  • Proficiency in piping design software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, CAESAR II, etc.).

  • Ability to work in a remote, site-based environment under challenging conditions.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Willingness to relocate to the Oko West mine site for extended periods during the construction phase.

  • Experience with piping systems in mining, process plants, or water treatment facilities.

  • Familiarity with the environmental and regulatory requirements related to piping systems in Guyana or similar regions.

  • Previous experience working in remote or challenging environments.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Piping Engineering and Design:

    • Develop and prepare detailed piping engineering plans for various systems, including those in the process plant, water treatment plant, tailings facilities, and mine operations.

    • Design piping systems for water supply, slurry transport, drainage, and compressed air, among others, ensuring they meet project specifications and are optimized for efficiency and safety.

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, civil, structural, electrical) to ensure piping designs are integrated with other project components.

    • Ensure compliance with local and international piping standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.

    • Specify piping materials, pumps, valves, and fittings, and coordinate with procurement teams to source necessary components.

  2. Pre-Construction Coordination:

    • Liaise with project management and construction teams to ensure that piping designs are practical and feasible for on-site execution.

    • Provide input on construction schedules, resource allocation, and material availability for piping systems.

    • Review and approve technical documents related to piping specifications, installation procedures, and quality control plans.

  3. Site-Based Construction Supervision:

    • Transition to on-site work at the Oko West mine site to oversee the installation of piping systems in the process plant, water treatment plant, tailings facilities, and mine areas.

    • Ensure that all piping installations align with detailed engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.

    • Coordinate with site teams, contractors, and subcontractors to manage daily piping construction activities, including quality control, material inspections, and problem resolution.

    • Monitor installation progress, troubleshoot piping-related issues, and implement design changes as necessary based on site conditions.

    • Conduct field inspections and tests, such as hydrostatic testing, to ensure the integrity and safety of the piping systems.

  4. Reporting & Documentation:

    • Prepare detailed reports on piping progress, technical challenges, and solutions.

    • Maintain accurate records of design changes, field modifications, and construction updates.

    • Provide regular updates to project management on piping engineering and construction activities.

  5. Health & Safety:

    • Adhere to and enforce G Mining’s safety standards, promoting a strong safety culture on-site.

    • Ensure all piping construction activities comply with local and international safety regulations.
