Inventory Receiving Clerk

As an Inventory Receiving Clerk, you will be responsible for receiving, inspecting, and processing incoming shipments of merchandise, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the inventory management system. You will collaborate closely with the Warehouse Team, Purchasing Department, and Shipping Department to maintain optimal stock levels and support the overall functioning of our operations.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or training in inventory management or related fields is a plus.

  • Proven experience in inventory receiving, stock handling, or warehousing is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.

  • Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams.

  • Physical stamina to handle and lift packages and merchandise as required.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receiving and Inspection: Receive incoming shipments of merchandise, verifying the contents against the accompanying documents, such as packing lists and purchase orders. Inspect the quality and condition of items received and promptly report any discrepancies, damages, or defects.

  2. Data Entry and Record Keeping: Accurately input receiving data into the inventory management system or designated software. Maintain detailed records of received merchandise, update inventory levels, and generate reports as required.

  3. Organization and Storage: Properly organize and store received items in the designated storage areas. Adhere to the company's organizational standards to facilitate easy retrieval and optimal utilization of space.

  4. Communication: Collaborate with the Warehouse Team to ensure smooth workflow and timely movement of merchandise. Communicate with the Purchasing Department to resolve any discrepancies in orders or deliveries.

  5. Quality Control: Assist in implementing quality control procedures to ensure that the received merchandise meets company standards and customer expectations.

  6. Inventory Audits: Participate in regular inventory audits to maintain accurate stock counts and identify potential discrepancies.

  7. Coordination with Shipping Department: Coordinate with the Shipping Department to prepare outgoing shipments and ensure timely dispatch of orders.

  8. Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while handling and storing merchandise. Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

  9. Problem Solving: Actively identify and resolve issues related to receiving, inventory, and stock management. Escalate complex problems to the appropriate department.

  10. Continuous Improvement: Suggest and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the inventory management process.
