Description

Responsible to the Senior Engineer – Local Operations for the effective and efficient operation and maintenance of all Data platforms and networks POPs owned and operated by One Communications, also ensures the superior quality and grade of service are given to customers.

Requirements

Essential Experience

  • 0–3 years of experience in IP systems and telecommunications, including high- and low-speed data transmission.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

Nature and Scope

  • Responds quickly to equipment faults requiring hardware and/or software solutions in One POPs.

  • Works systematically and undergoes required training to improve quality, output, and safety standards.

  • Works under supervision of Engineer II or higher; tasks may be delegated depending on competence.

Principal Organizational Relationships

Internal

  • Director, Data Network Services – Discuss operational procedures, departmental plans, and objectives.

  • Senior Engineer – Discuss work plans, maintenance targets, operational issues, and safety.

  • Departments such as Business, Outside Plant, Transmission, Switching, Mobile Network – Coordinate on requirements and network issues.

External

  • Internet Service Providers – Discuss service quality, design improvements, and restoration.

  • Overseas Manufacturers – Discuss repairs, upgrades, and equipment needs.


Description of Duties

  • Review and analyze system performance; recommend improvements.

  • Provide field support for troubleshooting and repairs for B2B services (Data, E1, LAN/WAN, SIP, etc.) within SLA.

  • Respond to impairments within fixed data network and mobile IP backbone equipment in POPs.

  • Install new hardware/software using approved procedures.

  • Interface with equipment manufacturers for upgrades, analysis, and modifications.

  • Maintain all data equipment and mobile IP backbone equipment in POPs, including:

    • Keeping software baselines up to date

    • Ensuring physical environment meets standards

    • Responding to alarms and leading corrective actions

  • Support event WiFi deployments.

  • Support change-related operations for other departments (site verification, physical/SW changes).

  • Analyze system failures and maintain inventory of spares.

  • Support information reporting for other departments.

  • Assist in staff training and development.

  • Support installation and maintenance for B2B services.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly change/outage/performance reports.

  • Perform other duties related to department operations and staff support.
