Description

The Fleet Inspector is responsible for preserving compliance, reinforcing safety standards, and ensuring operational quality across all tanker handling, inspection, and loading procedures.

Requirements

  • Five (5) subjects with passes at CXC/CSEC inclusive of English and Mathematics

  • Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, Quality Management, Mechanical Maintenance, or a related discipline.

  • Training in ISO 9001 and/or ISO 45001 Management

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience within the petroleum industry or another regulated industry with exposure to inspections, quality assurance or compliance auditing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-loading inspections of all tankers (including but not limited to coastal vessels, road tank wagons and canters) to verify compliance with established safety, quality, and operational standards.

  • Exercise stop-work authority by immediately refusing loading of any noncompliant tanker or unsafe condition identified during inspection.

  • Document all inspection findings using approved checklists, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and traceability.

  • Identify and record nonconformances, including immediate corrective actions taken and preliminary root cause observations where applicable.

  • Escalate all nonconformances to the Quality Assurance (QA) function immediately for assessment and direction.

  • Conduct re-inspection of tankers following corrective actions to verify full compliance prior to release for loading.

  • Maintain proper records and documentation control to support traceability, audits, and continuous improvement.

  • Monitor and report recurring defects or trends to QA to support systemic corrective actions.

  • Adhere to all applicable safety and operational requirements in alignment with ISO 45001.
