A Clerk of Works acts as the client’s representative on construction sites, ensuring that
work complies with technical specifications, quality standards, building regulations, and
safety requirements. They inspect materials, monitor daily site progress, maintain
detailed records, and report defects to project managers.
Diploma in Building/Civil Engineering, Architecture, or relevant technical
certification.
2–5 years of site management or supervisory experience in construction.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, building regulations, and
contracts.
Proficiency in Excel
Strong written and verbal skills for reporting and stakeholder management.
Ability to traverse uneven terrain on construction sites
Daily inspection of work and materials to ensure they meet specifications,
drawings, and building regulations.
Maintaining detailed site diaries, recording progress, weather, labor, and plant
machinery.
Preparing regular reports for architects, clients, or engineers regarding progress,
variations, and potential delays.
Identifying poor workmanship, non-compliant materials, or deviations from
designs and directing contractors to rectify them.
Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety (H&S) regulations and site rules.
Acting as a bridge between contractors, site managers, architects, and
stakeholders.
Assisting in final inspections (snagging lists) and the final handover of the project.
