The Audit Clerk provides administrative and audit support to the external audit team in the planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements. The role involves maintaining audit files, preparing working papers, collecting and organizing client documentation, performing basic audit procedures, and assisting auditors in ensuring compliance with professional standards and firm policies.
Diploma or pursuing a degree/ACCA qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
Previous audit or accounting experience is needed.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Familiarity with accounting or audit software is an advantage.
Audit Support
Assist audit staff in conducting external audit engagements for clients across various industries.
Obtain, organize, and maintain client records and supporting documentation.
Prepare audit working papers and schedules under supervision.
Perform basic audit testing and reconciliations as assigned.
Assist with bank confirmations, debtor and creditor confirmations, and other third-party verification procedures.
Conduct data entry and update audit software with relevant information.
Cross-reference and file audit evidence in accordance with firm standards.
Assist in preparing financial statement disclosures and supporting schedules.
Administrative Duties
Maintain physical and electronic audit files.
Track outstanding client information requests and follow up with clients as directed.
Schedule meetings and assist with audit logistics.
Prepare correspondence, reports.
Ensure confidentiality of client information at all times.
Compliance and Quality Control
Adhere to International Standards on Auditing (ISA), firm policies, and professional ethics requirements.
Assist with quality control reviews and file archiving procedures.
Ensure audit documentation is complete and properly referenced.
