Cashier/ Stock Clerks

The Cashier/Stock Clerk is a dual-role position responsible for delivering exceptional customer service at the cash register while also maintaining the organization and stock levels of store merchandise. The individual will ensure that customers have a smooth and positive shopping experience, assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels, and support overall store operations.

a. At least 5 Subject passes at CXC or equivalent (required) and 1 year experience in retail or cash handling is an asset.

b. Customer Service Certification with a minimum of one (1) year relevant experience [an asset]

c. Attentive to detail and self-motivated. 

d. Computer Literate (Microsoft Suite,) 

e. Excellent communication skills (oral and written). 

f. Excellent customer relations skills 

g. Time management

Assist with store opening and closing procedures as required.

§ Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner as they enter and exit the store.

§ Operate the cash register, process sales transactions accurately, and provide receipts to customers.

§ Handle various forms of payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, and store vouchers, ensuring proper cash handling and drawer balance.

§ Assist customers with inquiries about products, pricing, promotions, and store policies.

§ Bag purchased items efficiently and securely.

§ Resolve or escalate customer complaints or concerns professionally and courteously.

§ Maintain cleanliness and organization around the checkout area.

§ Monitor and restock point-of-sale supplies, such as bags, receipt paper, and promotional materials.

§ Unload, organize, and stock shelves with incoming merchandise, ensuring items are correctly placed and labeled.

§ Rotate stock to ensure older items are sold first, maintaining freshness and reducing waste. [FIFO methodology]

§ Perform regular inventory checks to identify low-stock or out-of-stock items and report to the supervisor or manager.

§ Organize storage areas and backstock to maximize space and efficiency.

§ Assist with creating displays for promotions or featured products.

§ Ensure the store aisles and shelves are clean, tidy, and free of obstructions.

§ Handle damaged, expired, or returned items according to the company policies.
