As a Clearance Clerk, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth movement of cargo from the port to its final destination. Through daily interaction with customs officials, shipping agents, and internal teams, you will gain valuable hands-on experience and insight into the processes that drive international trade and supply chain operations. The role is dynamic, with each day presenting different tasks and challenges ranging from managing documentation to coordinating with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely cargo clearance. · Minimum of five (5) CSEC subjects, including Mathematics and English
· Diploma or certification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset
· Previous experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or logistics operations is considered an asset
· Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
· Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); familiarity with logistics or inventory management systems is an advantage
· Ability to operate effectively in a small, growing company environment
· Flexibility to perform duties both in-office and in the field, as required
· Willingness to work outside regular business hours based on operational needs
· A valid driver’s license would be an asset
Answer and manage incoming phone calls, emails, and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Assist with the discharging and clearance of cargo through customs and other regulatory agencies
Prepare, review, and submit shipping and customs documentation accurately and in compliance with regulations
Coordinate and liaise with shipping lines, port personnel, freight forwarders, clients, vendors, internal teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless cargo movement
Track shipments and proactively address delays or issues affecting clearance or delivery timelines
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all import/export transactions and supporting documentation
Prepare and maintain shipment documentation and billing checklists before, during, and after project completion to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
Update daily progress reports and enquiry log sheet
Prepare safety highlights for toolbox meetings and provide operational updates
Provide administrative support to the operations team
Ensure compliance with all relevant customs laws, regulations, safety practices and company procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management
