Total Systems Guyana (TSG) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our pioneering team. As a newcomer to the Guyanese market, TSG is committed to setting high standards of occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance that align with both international benchmarks and Guyana's labor laws.
The HSE Manager will play a central role in ensuring workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across all company operations. The ideal candidate will develop and implement policies that reflect TSG’s commitment to excellence, safety, and sustainability, while remaining flexible and inclusive in support of the local workforce.
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of HSE management experience, preferably within the energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
· In-depth knowledge of Guyana’s occupational safety and environmental legislation, including OSHA (1997) and EPA Act (1996).
· Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HSE programs, conducting audits, and leading incident investigations.
· Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, OSHA Training) are highly desirable.
· Experience in cross-cultural settings and with developing local talent is a strong advantage.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
· Ability to work in a startup-like environment with flexibility, initiative, and a commitment to community empowerment.
· Familiarity with international HSE standards and experience aligning them with local regulations.
· Develop, implement, and maintain HSE management systems and policies in accordance with Guyanese labor regulations and TSG corporate standards.
· Conduct site inspections, hazard analyses, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential health and safety hazards.
· Oversee incident investigations and reporting; recommend corrective actions and track resolutions.
· Promote a culture of safety through ongoing training, workshops, and safety awareness campaigns tailored to local conditions and workforce needs.
· Ensure compliance with national regulations including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) of Guyana, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, and other statutory requirements.
· Serve as the primary liaison with local government agencies, external auditors, and stakeholders for HSE-related matters.
· Monitor and report on environmental impact metrics; implement initiatives to reduce waste, emissions, and resource use.
· Support operational readiness, audits, and HSE-related certification processes (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
· Collaborate closely with all departments to embed a proactive HSE culture company-wide.
