Description

We are seeking a Site-Based Engineering Technician to support the day-to-day technical operations on our civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will assist with site inspections, measurements, data collection, and quality control tasks to ensure construction activities are executed according to engineering specifications and project timelines. This role is critical in maintaining the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of work being carried out on-site. You will work closely with engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality infrastructure works.

Requirements

  • Degree or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field

  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a construction or site supervision role (entry-level may be considered with strong internship/field training)

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, site plans, and technical specifications

  • Basic knowledge of surveying tools and site measurement techniques

  • Familiarity with construction site practices, safety procedures, and quality control

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, basic AutoCAD or similar drafting software is an asset)

  • Ability to work in remote or field-based locations for extended periods

  • Strong communication and reporting skills

  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions


Responsibilities

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support on-site civil engineering activities, ensuring construction works follow approved designs and specifications.

  • Assist in setting out and surveying construction sites using levels, total stations, and GPS equipment.

  • Monitor site works and report on progress, material usage, and conformance to technical plans.

  • Conduct regular inspections to check alignment, elevations, and dimensions against drawings.

  • Record site measurements and assist with preparing as-built documentation and reports.

  • Liaise with site supervisors, subcontractors, and engineers to communicate technical details and resolve minor site issues.

  • Assist in quality control by collecting and documenting data from material tests (e.g., soil compaction, concrete slump).

  • Help ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on the worksite.

  • Maintain accurate site records including daily logs, photo documentation, and inspection reports.

  • Provide support during project milestones, handovers, and audits.
