Description

The OHSE Officer is responsible for providing service consistent with established and prescribed standards to ensure overall customer satisfaction and company efficiency.You will support the ongoing development, maintenance and training on safety and environmental programmes to maintain compliance to regulatory occupational safety and health standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Typically pursuing a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, OHS Act of Guyana 99:10 and other safety regulations.

  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong communication skills, and attention to detail.

  • Certifications: Some positions may require certifications like CPR, EMT, Work at height, Fire Marshal. 

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct Hazard Assessments: Evaluate processes and equipment to identify potential hazards.

  2. Inspect Work Environments: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and identify unsafe conditions.

  3. Develop Safety Programs: Assist in creating and implementing safety policies and procedures.

  4. Provide Training: Educate employees on safety practices and regulations.

  5. Accident Investigations: Participate in investigating incidents to determine causes and recommend corrective actions.

  6. Recordkeeping: Maintain records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
