The Demerara Mutual Life Group of Companies of Guyana is looking for a talented individual to assume the role of Information Technology Manager to position the company in the local and regional market where it provides life and general insurance products and services. Responsible for all Demerara Mutual technology, Information Technology (IT) strategic direction, oversight of vendor technology products and platforms, ensuring appropriate levels of information privacy and security oversight and management of the IT function for Demerara Mutual.
Requirements, Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field required; Master’s Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science strongly preferred.
8+ years of experience managing technology and information resources
Experience providing strategic IT direction.
Proven track record in designing systems architecture and executing systems integration projects.
Experience in managing groups of analysts and developers working on complex system projects to meet deliverables with tight time frames.
Ability to communicate with, and support the technological requirements for internal and external clients. Strong operational, organizational and negotiation skills required.
Proven project management skills, including experience managing technology vendors and vendor relations. Experience designing and monitoring technology service level agreements
Background and knowledge of both the public and private sectors preferred
Experience with electronic data interchange (EDI) and data privacy and security preferred.
Previous experience with Insurance technology
Candidate must be team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Experience with Agile and Scrum project management and software development methods.

The incumbent will be responsible for IT development within the Company and working closely with the Chief Executive Officer on the following key areas;
Running regular checks on network and data security
Identifying and acting on opportunities to improve and update software and systems
Developing and implementing IT policy and best practice guides for the organisation
Designing training programs
Conducting regular system audits
Running and sharing regular operation system reports with senior staff
Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages.
Managing and reporting on allocation of IT budget
Providing direction for IT team members
Identifying opportunities for team training and skills advancement
