The Counter Delivery Clerk is responsible for verifying customer purchases, coordinating the retrieval of goods from the bond and warehouse, ensuring the accuracy of all items issued to customers, and maintaining adequate stock presentation on sales shelves. The incumbent serves as the final control point to ensure that customers receive the correct products and quantities as indicated on their invoices.
Customer Order Verification
Receive and verify paid invoices and receipts presented by customers.
Confirm that invoices have been properly authorized and paid before goods are released.
Review invoice details to ensure clarity regarding product descriptions and quantities.
Goods Retrieval Coordination
Delegate retrieval requests to Delivery Clerks, Bond Clerks, and Warehouse Personnel.
Coordinate the timely collection of goods from storage, bond, and display areas.
Monitor the progress of order fulfillment to minimize customer waiting times.
Product Verification and Release
Physically count and inspect all items retrieved against the customer's invoice.
Tick off each product on the invoice or picking list as it is verified.
Confirm that product descriptions, quantities, brands, sizes, and packaging match the invoice.
Ensure damaged, expired, or incorrect items are not issued to customers.
Conduct a final verification before releasing goods over the counter.
Obtain customer acknowledgment where required.
Inventory and Shelf Management
Monitor stock levels on display shelves and report shortages promptly.
Ensure shelves are properly stocked, organized, and presentable at all times.
Assist with replenishing merchandise from storage areas.
Notify supervisors of low-moving, damaged, or out-of-stock items.
Accuracy and Quality Control
Maintain a high level of accuracy in order verification and product release.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between invoices and goods retrieved.
Report stock variances, shortages, or irregularities immediately.
Assist with stock counts and inventory verification exercises as required.
Customer Service
Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers.
Respond to customer inquiries regarding collections and deliveries.
Ensure customers receive their goods promptly and accurately.
Strong numerical and counting skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to verify large quantities of goods efficiently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to coordinate effectively with warehouse and delivery staff.
Basic record-keeping and documentation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail or wholesale environment.
Strong Secondary Education.
At least one (1) year of experience in retail, wholesale distribution, inventory control, warehousing, or customer service.
Experience in a supermarket, grocery, hardware, or distribution environment would be an asset.
