Sales Clerk - Hardware

R Maye Hardware Guyana Inc is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Hardware Sales Personnel to provide excellent customer service, support sales activities, and assist customers in selecting hardware, construction, and building materials products. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, product knowledge, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Education:

Minimum completion of secondary school education (CXC subjects preferred)

Experience:

Previous experience in hardware sales, retail sales, construction materials, or customer service is an asset

Experience working with tools, building materials, plumbing, electrical, or construction products is preferred

Skills & Competencies:

Strong customer service and communication skills

Basic computer literacy

Ability to work under pressure and multitask

Good numerical and cash-handling skills

Team player with a positive attitude

Ability to lift and move hardware items when required

Product knowledge of hardware materials is an advantage

Working Conditions

Retail/store environment

Standing for extended periods may be required

Work on Saturdays are required

Physical handling of merchandise may be necessary

Greet and assist customers professionally and courteously

Provide advice and recommendations on hardware products, building materials, tools, and related items

Prepare quotations and assist with customer inquiries regarding pricing and product availability

Maintain product displays and ensure shelves are stocked, clean, and organized

Assist customers with locating products within the store

Monitor inventory levels and report low stock items to management

Assist with receiving, checking, and stocking incoming merchandise

Meet sales targets and contribute to overall store performance

Handle customer complaints or escalate issues where necessary

Maintain knowledge of new products, promotions, and company policies

Follow workplace safety procedures and company standards
