Description
To be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, navigation, and overall command of the vessel. The position ensures compliance with applicable maritime laws, company policies, international regulations, and safety management procedures while maintaining the safety of the vessel, crew, passengers, cargo, and environment.

Responsibilities
Maintain overall command of the vessel, crew, passengers, and cargo.
* Ensure the vessel is seaworthy and safely operated.
* Prepare and approve the voyage plan.
* Ensure compliance with MARAD requirements and applicable maritime laws.
* Verify that the vessel is properly registered, licensed, inspected, and insured.
* Confirm that all crew members are qualified, medically fit, and properly documented.
* Assign duties and maintain discipline onboard.
* Ensure safe loading, securing, transportation, and discharge of cargo.
* Prevent overloading and maintain the vessel’s stability.
* Conduct safety and emergency drills.
* Maintain official logbooks and operational records.
* Report accidents, injuries, pollution, damage, or mechanical defects.
* Obtain the necessary arrival and departure clearances.
* Exercise final authority during emergencies.
