Description

  • Attend and participate in pre-job meetings.
    Attend and participate in safety meetings.
    Prepare JSA
    Assist in job load-outs.
    Mixing paint, cleaning paint pot & spray guns.
    Performing maintenance and repairs on personal and company owned tools and equipment.
    Shovel or pour specified grade abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot into machine hopper.
    Maintain good housekeeping in the work area as well the living quarters and bathing facilities.
    Mask specified areas to protect from abrading action.
    Load parts from racks in enclosed rooms into tumbling barrels or cabinets.
    Smooth and remove old paint from surfaces to prepare for new paint.
    Select pre-mixed paint or mix required portions of pigment, oil, thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
    Erect scaffolding or set up ladders or spider to perform tasks above ground level.
    Have the ability, desire and attitude to work as a team member.
    Being able to adapt to sudden changes concerning project work scopes, while under pressure, provoked by time-constraints and/or inclement weather.
    Have an operational knowledge of, and the ability to trouble-shoot, all blasting and painting tools and equipment.
    Interpersonal skills to cooperate and communicate effectively with others on the job.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply all types of coatings using various application methods

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawings

  • Ability to read coating thickness gages, surface profile gages, dew point meters, soluble salt testers, hardness or ultrasonic thickness gages and complete the associated reports

  • Ability to operate Heavy Equipment

  • Minimum three (3) or more years of recent experience in commercial/maritime media blasting

Responsibilities

  • Apply coatings through conventional, airless, and plural spray systems

  • Apply paint with a brush and roll

  • Operate various types of equipment such as blast pots and spray guns

  • Knowledge of various painting methods and applications

  • Spray with consistent millage

  • Knowledge of various blasts

  • Prepare surfaces

  • Mix paints to desired colors and consistencies

  • Understanding or reading of drawings and/or blueprints

  • Safe operation of construction tools and equipment

  • Grinding, sanding, and polishing

  • Painting, caulking, and sealing

Industrial Sandblaster/ Painter Skills:

  • Ability to apply all types of coatings using various application methods

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawings

  • Ability to read coating thickness gages, surface profile gages, dew point meters, soluble salt testers, hardness or ultrasonic thickness gages and complete the associated reports

  • Ability to operate Heavy Equipment

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of similar experience of progressive responsibility in painting and/or coatings.

  • Understand the difference between SP5 and SP6 for blasting purposes

  • Experience and ability with conventional spray systems, airless spray systems, and plural spray systems.

  • Experience and ability applying paint with brush and roll

  • Experience with epoxy, polyurethane, and high-solids coatings is preferred

  • Proficient in the application and use of plural spray systems is preferred

  • Training and ability to operate a man lift, work at heights, and swing stage training

  • Knowledge of utilizing a forklift for loading/unloading trucks

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Previous structural welding experience in an industrial setting is preferred

  • OSHA Approved Met-Guard boots (annual company allowance provided)

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

  • Asset if qualified to work in the oil and gas industry
