The USAID Youth Resilience, Inclusion and Empowerment (Y-RIE) program, implemented by DAI Global, engages and empowers youth and other key populations as partners to improve youth, family and community resilience to crime and violence. USAID launched the Youth Resilience, Inclusion & Empowerment (Y-RIE) Program in Guyana, Grenada and Saint Lucia in 2022, adding Trinidad and Tobago in September 2023. Y-RIE has been working with government and non-government partners to strengthen social services that serve youth at-risk and their families; to improve learning outcomes for youth; to improve youth-at-risk preparedness for the world-of-work; and to strengthen the resilience of families and communities.
DAI is seeking technical experts in the following areas to support upcoming projects in Guyana. Qualified individuals will be contacted on a rolling basis based on project need, which may vary in length and location (in Georgetown or New Amsterdam, virtual or in-person).
Technical Areas:
· Report Writing and Referrals Management (specific to social services sector)
· Tertiary Prevention (rehabilitation and reintegration)
· School-based Violence Intervention and Prevention
· Trauma-informed interventions (including for Juvenile Justice)
· Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions for youth
· Behavioral Specialist with specialized training in DBT and CBT
· Youth and Family Counseling (Basic and Advanced)
· Gender, Youth and Social and Inclusion/Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training
· Training and Facilitation using adult learning principles
· Curriculum Development
· Mentorship Program (Design AND implementation)
· Parent Engagement Interventions
· Anger Management and/or Aggression Replacement Therapy
· Youth-focused Substance Use interventions
· Team-building facilitation within a professional/service provider setting
· Life coaches and life skills trainers
· Child safeguarding
· Suicide prevention and crisis intervention, particularly with youth populations
· Behavior Change Communication for anti-violence or youth-focused intervention
Desired Qualifications:
· Postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant field such as Social Work, Psychology, Juvenile Justice, Education, Public Health, or a closely related discipline.
· Minimum of five years of progressive, relevant experience within one or more of the technical areas listed. Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working in the Caribbean or Latin American context, especially with at-risk youth and marginalized communities.
· Proven expertise in delivering technical assistance, designing interventions, and/or implementing evidence-based strategies in the respective technical area(s).
· Strong ability to design and deliver customized training and capacity-building sessions (following provided formats) for diverse adult learners, including government officials, service providers, and community members. A proven track record in facilitating interactive and inclusive training environments is essential.
· Prior experience working with justice-involved or at-risk youth populations is strongly preferred. Familiarity with tertiary prevention strategies, restorative justice, or reintegration or diversion services is an asset.
· Ability to lead the development of tailored interventions, including curriculum development, program evaluation, and mentorship program implementation.
· Experience working on USAID-funded projects or similar donor-funded initiatives is highly desirable but not a requirement. Familiarity with donor reporting requirements, compliance, and monitoring and evaluation processes is an asset.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse environments and adapt technical content to local contexts and cultural norms.
Consultants will be required to design or adapt curricula and deliver training to professionals.
Scope of Work will be provided for each activity as needs arise.
