Unarmed/ Armed Security Officers

Front-line personnel responsible for day-to-day protection of property, people and assets. The shifts vary from 10 hours to 12 hours depending on the location/work site. Responsibilities are divided into static or escort security officers depending on their qualifications.

Key Responsibilities of Unarmed Ranks:

a) Conduct perimeter patrol for the purpose of deterring and detecting security breaches.

b) Control access to premises, main gates, side gates, back entrances and verify identification of staff, visitors and other personnel.

c) Respond to fire emergencies, drills, alarms and incidents.

d) Perform security checks at entrances verifying materials and weapons carried by personnel determining authorization to entry.

e) Write incident and daily activity reports such as activity, vehicle and personnel log books.

f) Provide assistance to visitors and employees by proper guidance.

g) Observe and report suspicious activity.

h) Participate in emergency training and drills.

i) Support senior officers as required.

Key Responsibilities of Armed Ranks:

a) Provide physical protection for personnel, visitors, clients and escort high-value individuals.

b) Guard facilities such government buildings and conduct cash-handling operations.

c) Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted zones to prevent unauthorized access.

d) Act as a visible deterrent against violence or unauthorized intrusion.

e) Respond rapidly to incidents involving armed or violent suspects.

f) Use firearms only when legally justified and as a last resort to protect life.

g) Secure crime or incident scenes until law enforcement arrives.

h) Adhere strictly to firearms handling, safety, and storage protocols.
